About

Meet the Owner

Melissa Hern, BA, MC, LPC I am a Stone County native who spent much of my childhood and young adulthood living in different states before eventually finding my way back home to the Reeds Spring area. This community is where I’ve chosen to build my life and my practice, and I feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to walk alongside individuals and families as they work toward healing. My own journey through addiction recovery has given me a personal understanding of the challenges that come with addiction and the impact it can have on everyone involved. Because of this, I believe counseling should never focus solely on the problem or diagnosis. We have to look at the whole person and when appropriate, the whole family, to truly understand what is happening and create lasting change. At the heart of my approach is my Christian faith. I believe the Bible is the living Word of God and provides wisdom and guidance for how we navigate our everyday lives, our relationships, our struggles, and our healing. My faith serves as the foundation of my practice, while I also incorporate therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and other eclectic techniques to meet each client where they are. I believe therapy should be individualized because no two people, families, or stories are exactly alike. Over the course of my career, I have had the opportunity to work with individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, OCD, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, ODD, BPD, NPD, addiction, and other co-occurring disorders. Each experience has strengthened my belief that people are more than a diagnosis, and that with the right support, tools, faith, and willingness to grow, meaningful change is possible. Over the past year, much of my work has focused on children ages 5–17 and family reunification, helping children and families navigate difficult seasons, rebuild relationships, and move toward healthier family dynamics. Ultimately, my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, heard, valued, and understood. Whether you are struggling with addiction, navigating a mental health challenge, working through family difficulties, or simply trying to find your way through a difficult season of life: You are more than what you’ve been through. There is hope; healing is possible; you do not have to walk through it alone.
